A reputable breeder won’t let a puppy go around Christmas.
You can find breeders through the breed club;-

  • Truth Hurts, Doesn't It?:

NO good breeder will sell a dog as a "gift", and very few will allow a pet to go home during Christmas holidays. Not to mention GOOD breeders have their litters planed for and sold by the time they’re whelped…..

If you want quality, then don’t rely on "quick." Take your time, find a good one, then be PATIENT.

Here is a list of good breeders referred from the CKCS club website:

The Cavalier is not a breed you should look for a puppy quickly. The truth of it is, there are a lot of BYB out there who are selling crap dogs, who would probably sell one for a cheaper cost than a reputable dealer, at christmas time, and have one available. The rest of use who raise Cavs do so with integrity. This is a breed in particular, that careful planning must be made at each breeding. Cavs are SO prone to heart defects and other major problems that it is simply not advisable to pick the first cutie face you see. It may save you money today but will cost you TONS in the future right along with a short life expectancy for the pup you hope to get.

Please, dear, support a reputable breeder. One who does all the health clearances and is willing to show them to you. One who cares for the babies and raises them in the house where they are well socialized. Cavaliers have such a sweet soft personality that those raised in a kennel situation are often times overly shy and suffer as a result. Most reputable breeders of Cavaliers have a waiting list and you may have to be on it for a year to get a puppy that suits you. These type of breeders also typically do not even consider raising a litter without folks first on a waiting list. DO not be alarmed!!! This is for everyones own good. A Cavalier with good breeding is in high demand and unfortunatley there are too many people who purchase poor quality Cavs on a whim. If you work with a good breeder you will be very impressed at the care and devotion that goes into the raising of your future pal. It is very important that the breeder offer a written warranty and stand behind that puppy. I will forwarn you tho. Most Cavalier breeders probably wont allow you to "pick" your pup and rather will pick the pup for you based upon personality. Again, this is HUGE. Getting that optimal match is SO important so you will have to trust your breeder.

A good breeder I can think of off the top of my head is Cruisin Cavaliers. I am sure she does not have any pups available at this time but would happily speak to you and add you to her waiting list. Most good breeders also know other breeders and can refer you if they know of a litter that will be ready sooner. Check out the CKCSC website. They have a list of breeders there as well.

YOu shouldnt get a puppy for Christmas as a present without seriously thinking about it. Only puppy mills sell their puppies to pet stores or over the internet and this is an industry you do not want to support. I rescued my 1 yr old Cavalier a few months ago, he grew up in a puppy mill and came to me seriously shy which is nto even allowed in the Cavalier breed standard. THis is due to poor breeding and lack or socialization. Puppies are alot of work too and remember they all grow up. Please wait and find a good breeder near you don’t fall for scams on the internet. No Real breeder sells their puppies over the internet without meeting you first. Lots of puppies arrive sick, some even dead, and suffer from developmental problems. And the mother dogs have a horrific life. Look up puppy mills online. Cavaliers are great dogs! Just research carefully it’s worth the wait! HAve a nice Christmas

Make sure to contact many breeders and ask them questions about their breeding program. Ask them for references from others that have bought dogs from them in the past. Contact those people to find out how their experience went.

I saw a few Texas cavalier breeders on this page: http://www.pets4you.com/cavalierkingcharlesspaniel.html
